From the recording Busking For Haiti

I had started writing this song but could not seem to finish it when the tragic earthquake devastated
Haiti. The following day when I picked up my guitar and pen and set to work on finishing the song I had
the situation in Haiti fresh in my mind, pretty quickly the unfinished song was no more, and a new
song had emerged. I had intended this song to speak to the issues of poverty, both locally and
internationally. I think (hope) the essence of the song really remained.
I am heartbroken over the situation in Haiti, as I was prior to this devastating blow to the Haitian people.
I pray we can focus on real, long term solutions and that we simply support the people of Haiti without
pushing our own agendas on them. The people of Haiti deserve to be empowered, not led - history should
tell us that much.

PRAY FOR REDEMPTION - BUSKING FOR HAITI
Written and performed by Lynn Mantle
We started out in paradise
Somewhere we fell off the path
Left the good - for the easy
Became the "have not's" and the "haves"
And we've no right to toy with human life
To turn a blind eye to the suffering
How can half the world go hungry?,
while the other half,
Prays for redemption
Does nothing to make a change
Holds to excuses
Finds ways to avoid the blame
There's some gaps to be bridged
Some lessons we still need to learn
Wise to keep in mind,
one day the tables might be turned
And what would you do
if there were no place you could go?
Death and suffering everywhere
If hell came up from below
Would you pray for redemption
Do nothing to make a change
Hold to excuses
Find ways to avoid the blame
Let's cast away the anger
Bravely face our fear
It's time we realized that
love is why we're here
We're Sisters and Brothers
Connected at the source
Yet we hurt one another
when we follow anger's course
Let's be the one
Let's become the many
Let's build a world of hope
for those who ain't got any
Let's pray for redemption
Do something to make a change
Hold to each other
Finally realize we're all the same
Let's go back to paradise
Let's build ourselves a paradise
I want to go back, go back, go back
Let's go back to paradise
